The 2024 Ships & Ports Maritime Cup Competition is underway in Lagos, with Apapa Bulk Terminal Limited (ABTL), ENL Consortium, and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) each claiming victories in their opening matches.

In a surprising start to Day Two, ABTL earned a walkover win against Group A rival and 2009 champions, Nigerian Navy, who failed to show up.

Also in Group A, ENL Consortium faced off against the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) in a closely contested match. ENL emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win, thanks to a well-timed goal from jersey number 18, Gabriel Issa, who found the net in the 70th minute.

The final match of the day saw an intense showdown between APM Terminals Apapa and the Nigeria Customs Service in Group B. Customs secured a 2-0 win. Both goals were delivered by NCS’s star striker, Shefiu Karibu, who scored in the 31st and 56th minutes of play.

All three matches took place at the NPA Sports Ground in Surulere, Lagos.

Day Three promises more excitement as the Group B and C teams prepare to face off.
