2010 champion, Micura Stevedoring Services and the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) have qualified for the final of the 6th Ships & Ports Maritime Cup competition. The final match will be played at 4pm tomorrow at the Astro Truf pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
NAGAFF yesterday defeated Sifax Group 2-0 to book their final match ticket while Micura defeated ENL Consortium 2-1.
NAGAFF emerged from Group D. It defeated the other two teams in the group, APM Terminals Apapa 3-0 and Mickey Excellency 2-0 to top the group and qualifiy for the quarter final. It defeated Group B runner-up, Apapa Bulk Terminal Limited (ABTL) 3-0 to book a place in the semi-finals.
NAGAFF has never won the trophy since it started participating in the Maritime Cup competition four years ago.
Micura Stevedoring Services, which won 2nd edition of the competition in 2010, qualified from Group A. Micura defeated first timer African Circle 6-1 and played a goalless draw with Sifax Group to emerge at the top of the group.
In its quarter final match, Micura defeated Dominion Divine Freight Forwarders 3-2.
Defending champions of the Maritime Cup, the Nigeria Customs Service, crashed out at the quarter final stage after losing 6-5 on penalties to Sifax Group.
The third place and quarter final matches will be played at National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos tomorrow.
