The ongoing Maritime Cup competition is getting more interesting as each participating team aims at clinching the coveted trophy.
The competition is organised yearly by Ships & Ports Communication Company.
Three matches were played yesterday at the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) Sports Ground, Surulere.
The first match between NPA and African Circle ended 3-0 in favour of NPA.
In the second match of the day, the defending champions, Nigerian Customs defeated Josephdam Terminal 4-2. In the match, jersey number 9, Christopher James scored the first goal 20 minutes into the first half, jersey number 16, Rotimi Jimoh scored the second goal, jersey number 8 Abubakar Mohammed scored the third goal in the 56th minute, while jersey no 9 Christopher John, scored the fourth goal for Customs in the 70th minute.
Josephdam’s goals were scored in the 65th and 86th minute of the match by Sunday and Chibueze Agu respectively.
The last Match of the day between Nigerian Navy and Tin Can Island Container Terminal (TICT) ended 2-1 in favour of Navy. Navy’s goals were scored by Olabisi Omololu in the 15th and 42nd minute, while jersey number 13, Steven Musa scored TICT’s only goal in the 42nd minute.
